There’s no such thing as a fashion emergency…

There’s no such thing as a fashion emergency when you have a stylist you know and love — and most importantly, can trust.  Ashley of Ashley Morgan Designs, texted me this morning in a panic when she found a perforation in her Prada bubble sweater — which she planned to wear to her trunk show today with her gorgeous silver lace Calypso St. Barth’s skirt, hosted by Ann and Gordon Getty (yes, those Gettys).  She sent me a few pics of options – so cute for casual day time, but convey the level of sophistication her outfit required  for this important seasonal sales event, heavily attended by the who’s who in San Francisco.

Over I came, daughter in tow (as I was on my way to drop her at school), with arms full of every black top and fur and leather vest and jacket I could find in my archives.  Options are always key — but I knew the look I wanted for her.  Ashley is about juxtaposition – soft meets hard, ethereal meets edge, yin and yan all in one.  To counterbalance the sweetness, elegance, and classic nature of her long lace skirt and silver peep toe bow heels, we paired it with a tight jersey scoop neck tee, and this fantastic Skaist Taylor fur vest.  It added just enough edge to be sophisticated and festive, and it balanced out the conservativeness of the fabric, the silhouette and her peep toe bow shoes.  Most importantly, it’s Ashley, to a tee.  Just goes to show you that a fashion emergency to some is an opportunity for fabulousness for others (namely me!!!)
